Isn’t it great when you discover a restaurant just by chance and it ends up being a new favourite? On Tuesday my sister and mum were up from Wales for our bridesmaid dress fittings, eeeeh not long left!!, and we decided that we wanted to go somewhere different for dinner. We knew we wanted it to be local and have steak so the search was on!
I asked my best friend Google for steakhouses in South West London and began traipsing around the internet. Now to start if I don’t like the website, if it isn’t laid out nicely or is hard to navigate then it’s straight away closed (sorry!! – I think it’s the designer side coming out), so this quickly narrowed it down. The next step is taking away places that I’ve been before and obviously the final step, deciding which one has the best menu.
The cattlegrid caught my eye straight away with a quirky modern layout and an easy to use website. The menu was a bit more expensive than some of the other places but I thought we could give it a shot anyway.
We got there and were spoilt for choice as we seen other customers dishes coming out one by one each smelling as delicious and looking as beautiful as the previous. Not only was it hard enough to pick which main you wanted but then you had the choice of numerous toppings for your steak, sauces and sides. Although the menu isn’t super extensive each dish looked so good you didn’t know which one you wanted.
For once, we all opted for something different and thankfully, all the food matched up to our expectations. As I said before it seems a little over priced, but when the food arrived let’s just say you won’t leave hungry. Each dish was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly and our meals came out pretty quickly. All in all, I’d say a good find don’t you think?
If you are looking for a new restaurant to try and you are a meat lover I would suggest you try this one out. I will for sure be going back there sometime soon. It’s really easy to get to as it is just outside Balham Station so pop across and let me know what you think!
