My Top 3 Favourite Trips 2018
2018 has been a wonderful year of learning and growing. I began the year with a completely different mindset to what I have now, I have grown to be more understanding, patient and to go with the flow. I have worked twice as hard every day but doing more of what I love and less of what is expected and I’ve ticket several amazing experiences off my bucket list as I go.
This year my travelling was focused on Europe. I live so close to so many amazing places yet I never really go and visit the places on my doorstep. I was overwhelmed with the beauty that I’d missed out on for years and I’m already planning numerous trips back.
My top three holidays were, in no particular order, as follows:
Sailing through majestic fjords and discovering the immense power of the forces of nature was a magical experience. A cruise is a great way to see lots of destinations in a short amount of time. My favourite of the bunch was Geiranger.
We rented tiny Twizy cars and drove high up into the mountains. While being blasted with cold air and getting squished in the back seat the views were absolutely phenomenal. When we reached the top we had epic view over the Fjord below and also stumbled across this majestic lake. The lake was still and peaceful, hidden way up in the mountains and surrounded by rolling hills.
Slovenia was a gamble. I knew nothing about Slovenia when I went and I was so blown away by the untouched, natural beauty that covers the land.
All I knew about Slovenia was Lake Bled - the hike over Lake Bled at sunrise on Max’s birthday was definitely a highlight for me but Slovenia in general is gorgeous. Not only is it quite small so renting a car and driving around is super easy but there are also very few tourists as soon as you leave Lake Bled which really allows you to admire what the country has to offer.
3. Europe Road Trip
It’s hard to pick one of my favourite destinations from this trip. I love the infinity pool at Vila Honegg, the random day trip we took to the Dolomites and visiting Neuschwanstein Castle.
My favourite thing about this trip though was the freedom. The freedom to explore wherever and whenever. I love road trips and having a campervan really made this one one to remember. We stopped in little laybys in the middle of no where to sleep and woke up to dramatic mountain views. We decided last minute to visit a whole new country and it become one of our best decisions.
To me, there is nothing better than the open road. I look forward to many more road trips in 2019!
