Road Trip: Day In The Dolomites
Having a campervan has soooo many benefits but the number one we found to be useful was the fact that you can go wherever you want whenever you want, and that’s exactly what we did.
It’s always been a dream of mine to visit the Dolomites and when we arrive Neuschwanstein Castle we realised it was only about 5 hours away and that seemed too good to miss. We jumped in our camper and headed to the Dolomites.
We drove half way to Italy and slept in a service station for the night before finishing our journey bright and early. So first off, a side note - Europe is soooo much better equipped for campervans than the UK. The roads have way more pull ins for you to get passed other cars, little places for you to sleep along the way, numerous bays to park in the service stations and even places to empty your waste etc.
Back to the Dolomites anyway! So although it may seem drastic going to Italy for just one day and adding 10 hours of driving onto our trip but it was definitely worth it. Those few hours spent visiting Santa Maddalena and Seceda while eating delicious Italian pizza and discovering beautiful landscapes was worth every second.
The moral is: if you’ve got the chance just do it - even if it means you only see the beauty for a couple of hours, it’s always better than not at all.
